URKL's Shanghai stop was reported for 29 August; it took place on 19 September, with no explanation found

A 21 August preview gave 29 August for the Ultimate Robot Knock-out Legend's Shanghai stop. September reports place it on 19 September. No postponement notice has been found.

URKL's Shanghai stop was reported with a start date of 29 August 2026 a month before it took place on 19 September. Roboxing has found no explanation for the difference, and no announcement of a postponement from EngineAI or the organisers.

WHAT WAS REPORTED IN AUGUST

On 21 August 2026 the 21st Century Business Herald (21jingji.com) published a preview headlined, in translation, "Mecha ring is coming, total prize pool 14 million yuan: URKL humanoid robot fighting tour Shanghai stop opens 29 August". The text says the stop would officially begin on 29 August at Shanghai's Baoshan Gymnasium, in two sessions, afternoon and evening.

The same preview describes the format: robots fight in an octagonal ring, every team uses the same EngineAI T800 humanoid platform, and the rules bar changes to core hardware such as the power and sensing systems, so results depend on each team's control, perception and fighting logic. It gives the total prize pool as 14 million yuan and says the champion's prize is a pure-gold belt weighing 10 kilograms. It also says the 32 teams that reached the main event would travel to Beijing, Zhengzhou, Shanghai and Shenzhen for group matches, that 16 teams would advance from those, and that 8 would reach a global final in late 2026 or early 2027. It gives no dates for the Beijing, Zhengzhou or Shenzhen stops.

WHAT WAS REPORTED IN SEPTEMBER

The People's Daily Online report carried by Tencent News on 19 September, and a Tencent News feature of 21 September, both place the Shanghai stop, billed as the URKL City Tour Challenge, on 19 September at Baoshan Gymnasium. Neither mentions a postponement. Roboxing's record of the event, including the report from Phoenix (ifeng) and NetEase that White Eagle's team won both the afternoon and evening sessions, is on the URKL league page.

WHAT THIS DOES AND DOES NOT TELL US

The two sessions, the venue and the stop itself match in both reports, so they describe the same event. The only difference is the date. Three explanations are possible: the event was moved, the August preview carried a wrong date, or an earlier session took place that Roboxing has not found. The record does not decide between them, and Roboxing has not found anything from EngineAI that does.

It matters for planning because URKL's schedule has so far been published late and in pieces. The August preview is a reminder that a date reported for an URKL stop is not a date the promoter has confirmed, and Roboxing therefore lists the remaining group-stage stops as announced without dates. The prize pool in this preview, 14 million yuan, matches the figure in other coverage Roboxing has cited; the 10 million yuan figure in some earlier coverage remains unresolved.
