Ultimate Bots has begun naming people it calls "captains" of its robot boxing league. Two short videos at the top of UFB's own YouTube channel, as of 17 October, are titled "Announcing ConnorEatsPants as our First Robot Boxing League Captain!" and "Meet UFB robot boxing captain: Odd Jayy".
That is the whole of what is verified. UFB has not said, in anything we could read, what a captain does, how many there will be, or how captains relate to the teams the league has talked about for Season 2. We could not retrieve the upload dates or the descriptions of the two videos, so we do not give a date for the announcement beyond saying they are the newest shorts on the channel.
Why it matters: when we published the Season 2 schedule on 14 October, the teams and their captains were listed as unpublished. This is the first public sign that UFB intends to build the league around named figures rather than only around venues and dates. It is a signal about format, not yet a roster.
The Season 2 calendar on ultimatebots.com/schedule is unchanged as of today: TwitchCon San Diego on 12 to 15 November, then Santa Clara, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Jose. Tickets are still listed as "coming soon".
We will update this page when UFB says what the captain role is.
