REK Sim has renamed its two robots L100 and H100; they were the Unitree G1 and EngineAI T-800

REK's Steam patch notes say the simulator's robots formerly known as Unitree G1 and EngineAI T-800 are now the L100 and H100, and the 9 October update added weight classes, a paint booth and a spectate screen.

REK's simulator no longer calls its two robots by their makers' names. Patch notes REK published on Steam say the robots "formerly known as Unitree G1 and EngineAI T-800" are now the L100 and the H100, in the Workshop, the arena and everywhere else in the game. That change appears in version 0.0.119, dated 29 August 2026. This article sets out what REK's patch notes say, and what they do not.

WHAT IS REK SIM

REK Sim is a game, not remote control of a real robot. Players fight virtual robots on PC, Meta Quest and, since a beta in October, iPhone and iPad through Apple's TestFlight. REK has said that top players can earn a chance to pilot a real robot at an REK event; its Steam announcement for the REK 2.1 Playoffs of 30 October is headed "Win and pilot a real robot".

THE RENAMING

REK's 29 August notes (version 0.0.119, posted by the account REKRich) say: "Meet the L100 and the H100. The robots formerly known as Unitree G1 and EngineAI T-800 are now the L100 and the H100." The notes do not say what the names stand for. Roboxing has not found REK explaining them.

The notes describe the simulator. They do not say that REK has renamed any physical robot, and Roboxing has not seen REK change how it names the machines used in real fights. The Unitree G1 and EngineAI T800 remain the manufacturers' own names for the real machines.

WHAT THE 9 OCTOBER UPDATE ADDED

Version 0.0.146, "H100 Reloaded", is described by REK as its biggest update yet. According to the notes it gave the H100 a new move set "straight from our robot team", auto-aim like the L100's, and get-ups on keyboard, gamepad and VR controls. Free Play rooms are now organised by weight class, starting with heavyweights, and the notes say heavier robots hit harder. A Workshop paint booth lets players paint and publish skins. A Spectate screen lists live and recorded fights. The notes also list new servers: Johannesburg for Africa, and Tokyo for Korea and Southeast Asia. The arena was rebuilt with light tubes and trusses "just like the real REK Arena San Francisco".

WHY IT MATTERS

REK is training a pool of fans on virtual versions of the robots it fights with, and it has said the best of them can step onto a real stage. The simulator is also where REK 2.1 is being played: the Steam announcement says the top six players of each of two weeks advance, twelve in all. As of 7 November, REK has published no results of week 1, dates for week 2 or live fight card for 20 November.
