New Dawn MY: SCL names its three champions — and the ICON fight was not the one it advertised

Per Shadow Combat League, Theebaan won the ICON belt, Aiman Abu Bakar the GLADIATOR belt and Koo Kien Keat the NETRUNNER belt on 3 October in Kuala Lumpur. No independent source has confirmed any result yet.

UPDATED, 9 October 2026: SCL's results page now names the NETRUNNER winner — Koo Kien Keat — which this story originally left open because the press release's sentence on that bout was broken.

Shadow Combat League's third event ran on Saturday 3 October at Pavilion Damansara Heights in Kuala Lumpur, and the league has now published who won. Five days later, in a press release — and so far nowhere else.

That matters for how to read what follows. Every result below is SCL's own claim, from its results page and its release of 8 October. No independent outlet has named a winner: The Sun and Free Malaysia Today covered the night as a spectacle, and neither reports a result. This record enters a bout into its standings only when two independent sources agree, so these are printed as the promoter's account and kept out of the record until a second source — or the broadcast itself — confirms them.

The three belts, per SCL:

ICON — Theebaan was crowned champion against Daniella Sya. This was not the ICON fight SCL had advertised. Its card page listed the influencer Abdu Rozik against Amelia Henderson as the main event; the release does not mention either of them, and nobody has said why.

GLADIATOR — Aiman Abu Bakar took the belt against Adli Goldenboy.

NETRUNNER — Koo Kien Keat, the former badminton doubles world number one, beat former national footballer Safee Sali. SCL's press release garbled this sentence; the league's own results page states it plainly.

The rest of the card: Isaac Quinn Lee beat Alip Blastoff, Alexis Grace beat Daniel Fong, Michelle Teo Jia Yin beat her twin sister Mabelle Teo, and Yuan Teng beat Eugene Chung. That is seven bouts. SCL's card page said six, and its X announcement had said seven.

No method, round or score is published for any of them.

The whole show is on SCL's YouTube channel as a three-hour-41-minute live stream, which is the practical route to confirming these results independently. SCL calls the night a full house but gives no attendance figure.

What comes next: SCL says its next fight event is in the first quarter of 2027, with details to follow on Instagram, and that its champions will be back to defend. Founder Dr Ian Tan Wei Lun framed New Dawn as the league moving "forward with humans at the centre, real humanoids, real pilots and three titles."
